Maurizio Marchesini, honored today with the award of “Cavaliere del Lavoro”, is ready for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of a new factory

10-15, 2013

This morning, the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, awarded Maurizio Marchesini with the title of  “Cavaliere del Lavoro” during a ceremony at the Quirinal Palace. The CEO of the Marchesini Group, who has also been Chairman-in-office of the Confederation of Italian Manufacturing and Service Companies of Emilia Romagna for a year, received this award from Giorgio Napolitano for his contributions toward the social, occupational and technologic development of the ‘Made in Italy’ mark across the world.

This important award, which was conferred to Maurizio Marchesini, and another 24 businessmen, who have distinguished themselves in different fields of economy, represents the crowning achievement of a successful industrial career, totally dedicated to the family-run business. “It was a true honour for me to receive the title of “Cavaliere del Lavoro” personally from Giorgio NapolitanoMaurizio Marchesini said. “This award is not just mine alone but it also belongs to our Italian and foreign colleagues: it is thanks to these people too that we have become a successful brand, in both our homeland, where we are leaders in the manufacturing industry, and abroad, being our main destination market”.

Over the years, Maurizio Marchesini has implemented an innovative company policy of acquisitions, joint-ventures and strategic international partnerships for the distribution network, making the Marchesini Group the key player in the so-called Packaging Valley of Emilia Romagna, with a consolidated turnover of 204 million Euro in 2012. In the last 12 years, employees have increased by 160%, which is a reverse trend compared with the Italian market; today the enterprise employs more than 1200 people all over the world.

To confirm the outstanding and dynamic proficiency of the Marchesini Group, a new factory of 5.400 square meters will be inaugurated in Pianoro (Bo), in the area next to Marchesini’s headquarters, on Saturday October 26th at 4 pm. The building project worth seven and a half million Euro will be used to assemble the complete packaging lines made by Marchesini.

In addition to meeting the requirement of organizing more work space, the building meets an even more specific need: that of continuous growth, without losing sight of what has already been done – such as the inauguration in 2008 of a new factory in Siena and, in 2010, of the factory extension for the Group's logistic activities in Pianoro - with an eye always on the future, namely 2014, when Marchesini will celebrate its forty birthday.

In these times of recession for the Italian manufacturing industry, the main duty of a business is to stay optimistic. To succeed, old spaces need to be changed and new ones created, re-organizing work and making a stronger stand, allowing local and national authorities to share in this project.
Antonio Tajani (Vice-President of the European Commission), Vasco Errani (President of Emilia Romagna region), Massimo Scaccabarozzi (President of Farmindustria),  S.E. Mons. Ernesto Vecchi (Auxiliary bishop), Gabriele Minghetti (Mayor of Pianoro) and Maurizio Marchesini (CEO of Marchesini Group) will be attending the inauguration.
