GENERAL CONFEDERATION OF ITALIAN INDUSTRY OF THE EMILIA-ROMAGNA REGION. MAURIZIO MARCHESINI PASSES THE BATON TO PIETRO FERRARI

Maurizio Marchesini, Chairman of the Marchesini Group, stood down from the General Confederation of Italian Industry of the Emilia-Romagna region after five years of holding office. A brief assembly, which was held at the Golinelli factory before the conference entitled “Emilia-Romagna takes action”, unanimously elected the new leader, Pietro Ferrari, President of Ing. Ferrari S.p.A.

"Maurizio did an excellent job. I have always appreciated his great humanity” said the President of Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, who attended the meeting alongside the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, and the President of the General Confederation of Italian Industry, Vincenzo Boccia.

Shortly before a long and genuine applause during the handover of the baton, Mr. Marchesini said: “My successor, Pietro Ferrari, is much better than me and he does not need any advice. He is a true expert, a very positive and professional person and I am sure he will do very well”.

Mr. Marchesini concluded by summing up the industrial investments, innovation and growth in Emilia-Romagna. Growth, in particular, was an “obsession that marked my work since I was appointed in June 2012 under a marquee in Finale Emilia, just after the devastating earthquake, to date”. An obsession that was summarized in the Agreement for the investments launched at the end of 2012 “to promote a European industrial policy and to reassert one of the principles in which I believe most: Wealth has to be produced before we can think of how to share it out. And wealth is produced at the factory”. Another of Mr. Marchesini’s most strongly sought after initiatives is the agreement entitled 'Toward Industry 4.0': an extensive plan to assist businesses throughout their processes of growth and strategic repositioning of the supply chains and productive systems from an Industry 4.0 viewpoint.

Marchesini ended his speech saying: “The future continues to be more and more challenging. We have to reinvent our businesses, with a different logic, a different organisation, different products and brand new projects. Let’s take action together".
