Marchesini Group at Pack Expo Las Vegas: a machine with a new paper tray design on display

Marchesini Group will be exhibiting at Pack Expo Las Vegas to be held from 11 to 13 September 2023, offering game-changing solutions to customers’ packaging and processing challenges. The stars of the show will be the latest paperboard tray innovation, and also a Dott. Bonapace machine for R&D laboratories and small production lots on display at booth 6701 in the Healthcare Packaging hall. 

This important industry event will be an excellent occasion to see the latest technology and explore new projects with the help of Marchesini Group USA, a major supplier for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetics industry in the American, Canadian and Puerto Rican markets. 
 

The machines on display
 

At booth 6701, you can see the MA80 cartoner with a robotic island designed for cartoning products such as vials in paper trays at a speed of 120 cartons per minute. Paper trays are an environmentally friendly alternative that are becoming increasingly popular among customers because they are as reliable as PVC trays, offering advantages in terms of storage and transport due to their compact size. 

This solution will be presented together with a new-design paper tray, researched and developed by the Group itself, which generates savings of about fifty percent in paper and about fifty percent in glue compared to the models currently on the market. 

What’s more, the new paper tray is less thick, providing space savings of thirty percent when products are combined inside the case, with obvious benefits during shipment in terms of load capacities and relative CO2 emissions. Marchesini Group, which has been developing paper tray solutions as a valid, safe alternative to thermoformed plastic for more than ten years, has created this new prototype with the aim of guaranteeing even more responsible use of packaging material, while further reducing production costs and minimazing waste. 

Marchesini Group has set up a dedicated team to design customised paper trays for packaging products in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics market. Using prototypes and models, the trays are then fine-tuned so that customers can optimise the entire packaging line, from the process through to cartoning and palletizing. 

At the show, visitors will also have the opportunity to take a close look at one solution from Dott. Bonapace, a company based in Cusano Milanino (Milan) which joined the Group in 2021. The machine on display is model BP-2, BP-3, CU-1 line for the production of suppositories and ovules in plastic strip with different capacities.
