JFK is recorded as saying “Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike”. The bicycle is part of the history of each of us, evoking memories, emotions and feelings. With this project, the Beata Vergine delle Grazie shelter in Bologna allows elderly persons suffering from mobility problems or no longer self-sufficient, to get back on a bicycle again and rediscover the pleasure of a simple and fulfilling activity. Thanks to a pedal assisted cargo bike, the elderly
guests of the Shelter can rediscover the city of Bologna, riding along the streets in the city centre and visiting well-loved spots that they can no longer reach on foot. The project also allows the elderly to get outdoors, to break free from their routine and meet new people.
