CLICK AND THE SHOPPING’S DONE… IN-HOUSE!

Marchesini Group has come to a business agreement with Local To You, a startup company in Ozzano dell’Emilia that manages an online delivery platform of biological fruit and vegetables directly from the fields to the table.

The project entitled “Shopping at the company” will allow the employees of Marchesini Group to order a crate of in-season fruit and vegetables online. The produce is farmed in the countryside of Bologna by social cooperatives and can be picked up at the company canteen.

The Group’s employees have immediately realized the benefits of this initiative. Yesterday in fact, the first 40 crates ordered were delivered to Pianoro, each with different assortments according to the employees’ preferences and each with a price of no more than 10 to 20 Euro.

The decision to work with Local To You is a part of the activities of Corporate Social Responsibility of Marchesini Group, striving to economically develop the local area but also as a commitment toward the society and toward the employees. Local To You works with farmers and certified cooperatives from the regional “Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell’Abbadessa” to as far as Ferrara. It offers work opportunities to less fortunate people who are able to fit back into society and become self-sufficient. It is one of the Group’s welfare services aiming to improve the quality of the employees’ free time, to encourage awareness of responsible consumption and to stimulate relationships among employees concerning topics outside work.

To date, Local To You sells 13 thousand kilos of biological produce every month and serves 200 families a week. It has already established five company purchasing groups and others will be added shorlty.
