A NEW PROTOTYPING DEPARTMENT FOR THE MARCHESINI GROUP
Last week, Marchesini Group inaugurated its first ever prototyping department in Pianoro.
This special department has been set up in a new building of 1,000 square meters where all the Group’s currently-exploited 3D printing technologies are gathered. The investment is worth around 3 Million Euro.
The systems already in use have been boosted by new 3D printing units for metal, plastic and rubber. They will work 24 hours a day to be able to develop machine parts which up to now were produced with the subtractive manufacturing method (machining) but instead will be designed exploiting the additive manufacturing method. In this way, the parts will be prototyped very quickly and also in small batches to be able to carry out real time tests on the machines being produced.
The hub will therefore become the real core of the 4.0 model at Marchesini. What’s more, we will be able to control times and costs and monitor production planning, machine wear and tear and error management without printing a single sheet of paper.
