PACKAGING AND SUSTAINABILITY

From 20-21 February, Bologna will be hosting the international forum, "Packaging Speaks Green", which tackles the growing current issue of sustainable supply-chain packaging. The UCIMA (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association) and the Fico Foundation are organising the event.

The Marchesini Group is sponsoring the forum which will consider company energy choices as well as use of resources and recycling during different production-cycle phases. This will include addressing upstream processes linked to sustainable product design (durability, material separability, biodegradability, use of renewable resources) and downstream ones in terms of proper waste management. All these issues will be considered in light of increasingly digitalised production processes which are monitored throughout to minimise consumption and waste.

Experts from key packaging-machine exporting countries, including the USA, EU, India, China and Australia will be present. They will cover the factors driving their choices in terms of environmental concerns and raising social and industrial awareness. Some of the world's leading consumer goods manufacturers  will also be there, providing concrete examples across different sectors of best packaging-management practices, attesting to the constantly evolving and solid efforts underway in this area.

Contributions from the academic and research world will also be integrated through the participation of universities and research centres committed to developing new materials and packaging designs.

The dates are from 20-21 February and the location is the Fico Eataly World headquarters.
